Counselling isn't just for mental illness, although depression, anxiety and other conditions respond very well to talk therapy. Most people who seek out counselling are not actually mentally ill. Generally, they are making their lives work on a daily basis, but they have a sense that there might be something more positive waiting for them, but can't seem to access that. They may feel stuck about a specific issue and have tried different ways of getting past it, but find they aren't where they want to be in one or several different areas of their lives.

I focus on two principal tracks in my work with clients: Trauma and Attachment. I use a range of training and experience to help identify patterns, share observations, identify new tools, and help my clients "get past their past," either in individual therapy or as a couple. I'm certified in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), including Attachment-Focused EMDR through the Parnell Institute, and am extensively trained in EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) for couples and individuals.

Couple/Relationship Therapy

Relationship therapy, specifically Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, can help put you on the right track together. It can give you and your partner the deep insights, understanding, and practical tools to support your relationship, build trust, and give you a path to the loving, energizing, and fulfilling bond you both desire.

Eileen has been in private practice since 2006. Prior to earning her Master of Social Work and her license to practice independently, she spent more than a decade in the US Army, and was a top sales rep for a surgical technology subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) phone counselor for a global mental health services provider.

She specializes in the areas of relationships, trauma, anxiety (including phobias) and addiction treatment.

Eileen applies several evidence-based treatment modalities to her work with clients, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples and Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

The quality of the relationship between client and therapist is extremely important to success. Eileen knows that one-size doesn’t fit all when it comes to providing effective therapy. She works with each client, individually, to understand the core issues that person seeks to change, and tailors her approach to fit the unique style and specific goals of each client.
